Ashtanga yoga implies an eight limb philosophy designed to bring a person toward their optimum potential. As taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, South India, whose teaching directly influences Ashtanga Yoga Belmont, the point of departure for the vast majority of students is asana or postures. Once proficiency in this initial practice is gained, a natural curiosity is purported to carry students to a more in-depth study of the remaining limbs.
Per tradition, students will be taught individually to their capacity. New students can expect to practice for well under an hour learning both execution of each posture and the sequence in which they are presented. Things naturally progress in duration and degree of difficulty as one responds to repetition. All are welcome at any point during class timings to come to the school and discuss beginning a practice.
